CHENGDU, Feb. 27 -- Disaster relief, warnings, risk assessment and reconstruction are on the agenda of the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) meeting that began on Thursday in Chengdu.

The two-day meeting on natural disaster management drew some 100 representatives from 27 ARF members and some international organizations to the capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.

Addressing the meeting, Vice Civil Affairs Minister Jiang Li asked participants to share their experiences and consider a regional disaster relief framework and drill for 2015.

Participants will visit Wenchuan, the epicenter of a devastating earthquake in 2008, to review reconstruction.

Presenting China's disaster relief expertise, Jiang said the government had integrated disaster relief into social and economic development plans, and is committed to protecting ecology, resources and environment, while developing its economy, she said.

Founded in 1994, the ARF is a key regional forum for security dialogue in Asia. The forum was attended by 27 countries including the 10 ASEAN member states and their dialogue partners.
