BRAZZAVILLE, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Sino-Congolese cooperation has continued to be developed and consolidated especially in the military domain since the first visit of the Republic of Congo military delegation to China in 1965, a Chinese diplomat said ahead of the Army Day which falls on Thursday.

The two countries have been cooperating in military training, exchanges of visits and assistance of military equipment, the defense attache at the Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Congo, Col. Xu Guopei, said.

Col. Xu made the remarks on Wednesday night in the Congolese capital Brazzaville at a ceremony to celebrate the 86th anniversary of the founding of the People's Liberation Army of China.

At the ceremony held in the presence of Congo's Chief of General Staff Guy Blanchard Oko and Chinese Ambassador to the Central African country Guan Jian, Col. Xu said the Chinese army will not hesitate to share its experiences with the Congolese army and help modernize the army.

He expressed hope that Congolese soldiers who have already undergone training in China and those who will soon go to China for training will be ambassadors of friendship between the two countries.

The defense attache at the Chinese Embassy said, "China and the Republic of Congo have maintained strategic partnership whose cooperation dimension has extended to political, economic, commercial, cultural and military domains."

"The two countries enjoy good relations and will be celebrating their golden jubilee next year," he said.

The diplomatic relations between China and the Republic of Congo were established in 1964.
