The anti-graft organ of the Communist Party of China will inspect 20 provincial-level regions this year in a new round of inspection work.
In an interview on the Central Commission for Discipline and Inspection (CCDI)'s website on Wednesday, Li Xiaohong, an official with the leading group for inspections, said 13 teams have started their work in regions and departments.
Li said compared to 2013, inspection work this year will be accelerated, with three rounds completed compared to two rounds last year.
The CCDI has also beefed up personnel numbers for inspection work, and expanded areas to be inspected, Li was quoted as saying.
The inspection aims to uncover corruption and inappropriate working practices and will check on the implementation of socialist democracy.
Li said inspection teams will report any problems to the central authority, rather than handle cases directly.
The CPC began routinely sending teams to oversee the performance of officials in 2003, and the practice was formally written into the Party's Constitution five years later.
More than 80 officials were investigated in disciplinary inspections last year.
