BEIRUT, March 26-- The Lebanese army urged on Wednesday to halt Israel's provocations and violations of Lebanon' s sovereignty.

The appeal was made during the regular tripartite meeting with the Israeli army and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon ( UNIFIL), an army statement said.

During the meeting, Lebanon pointed out Israel's violations of its sovereignty, citing in particular the Israeli raid against the border village of Jenta in the Bekaa region.

Israel targeted in an air raid an alleged Hezbollah post in the region of Jenta in the eastern Bekaa late February. Hezbollah then vowed to retaliate.

On March 14, a land mine exploded in the occupied Shebaa farms which injured an Israeli soldier. In response, Israel targeted the border town of Kfarkela with 10 mortar shells which did not cause casualties, according to local media.

The UNIFIL chief Major General Paolo Serra stressed during the meeting the importance of abiding by the United Nations Security Council resolution no. 1701, which put an end to the 33-day war between Israel and Hezbollah in 2006, according to the statement.
