KATHMANDU, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- At least five pilgrims were killed and two still remained missing after they were swept by Kamala River at the Sindhuli District of, 284 kms away from Capital City Kathmandu, government official said Monday. They were swept away by the swollen river while crossing it on their way to the Madhuganga Mahadev Temple at Hatpate at around 7: 30 local time.
More than a dozen were rescued in the incident and some others are still missing. The identification of the deceased has not been ascertained yet.
Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel have been deployed to rescue missing pilgrims. "The rescue process is underway and we are collecting detailed information," Chief District Officer Keshav Acharya said.
