China's space tracking ship Yuanwang-5 berths at Jakarta for replenishment

JAKARTA, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Yuanwang-5, China's latest generation of all-around space tracking ship, arrived at Tanjung Priok Port here Friday for a seven-day in-port rest and replenishment.

During the stay, Yuanwang-5 is scheduled to focus on material replenishment and equipment maintenance after successfully accomplished its tracking missions for space rendezvous and docking test of spaceship Shenzhou-10 and space lab Tiangong-1, China's first space station module.

This is the second time for Yuanwang-5 space tracking ship to berth at Tanjung Priok Port, Indonesia's largest sea port. Yuanwang-5, with two Chinese former astronauts Zhai Zhigang and Nie Haisheng, had visited Indonesia in 2010 to enhance cooperation on space technology between China and Indonesia.

The 220 meter-long ship with more than 300 crew members on board displaces 25,000 tons and is set to continue its tracking missions after the replenishment.

The Yuanwang-5 ship, which commenced its operation in 2008, has carried out a series of successful maritime measurement, control and communication tasks for China's second moon orbiter Chang'e-2 and Shenzhou serial spaceships.
