China beaten 6-0 by Barcelona in soccer friendly
font size

Visiting Chinese national soccer team suffered a 6-0 defeat by Spanish giant Barcelona on Wednesday.

It was an even worse defeat for the Chinese who were on their European tour after a scoreless draw with minnows Andorra last week.

Against the visitors coached by Dutchman Arie Haan, Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard rested several of his key players like Ronaldinho and Edgar Davids, but the hosts still proved too strong.

Dutch international Philip Cocu opened the scoring after 15 minutes and the Catalans then found the net at regular intervals, with four going past goalkeeper Liu Yunfei in the second half.

Despite the absence of Sun Jihai, who plays for English Premiership side Manchester City, Haan still has players who who were at the 2002 World Cup finals, including defender Yang Pu and striker Xu Yunlong.

The visitors will play Albania on April 28 to conclude their European tour.
