Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao arrived in Berlin Thursday from Barcelona, Spain, starting his three-day official visit to Germany, the last leg of his five-European-nation tour.
Upon his arrival at the airport, Hu said he would exchange views with German leaders on issues of common concern, meet people from all circles to enhance understanding about Germany, expand consensus and promote bilateral ties.
With joint efforts from both sides, Hu said that the relationship between China and Germany has developed in a quick pace in recent years, and more achievement has been made in the areas of political affairs, economy and trade, culture, education and environment protection.
Both China and Germany are big and influential countries in the world and shoulder important responsibilities for promoting peace and development of humanity, Hu affirmed.
The Chinese Government attaches great importance to developing relations with Germany and its role in the world, he said.
As great changes are taking place in the international situation, closer and stronger cooperation between China and Germany is conducive not only to the two peoples, but also to global peace and stability.
Prior to Germany, Hu visited Russia, Britain, France and Spain.
