China to Abide by WTO Rules
Once it's a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), China will regulate its own behavior in accordance with WTO rules.
After 15 years of unremitting efforts and arduous negotiations, China is now busy preparing in every field for the upcoming entry into the WTO. As a country with a good reputation in fulfilling its international obligations, China will align regulations of its market system to WTO rules, Zhu said.
Zhu noted that China will strengthen economic and technological cooperation with other WTO members including those developing countries basing on the WTO mutual open market rules.
China's entry to the WTO is an very important strategic decision in the situation of economic globalization. It will create a win-win situation by benefiting China's economy and socialist modernization and also aiding other WTO members, he added.
When asked about what new actions China has taken since the United Nations General Assembly and the U.N. Security Council have both called on all countries to become signatories of existing international conventions on anti-terrorism, Zhu said that the Standing Committee of NPC, China's legislature, has ratified China's accession to the International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings, and the State Council has also decided to sign the International Convention for the Suppression of Financing of Terrorism.
According to the spokesman, Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan will submit the book of documents about China's accession to the International Convention for the Suppression of Terrorist Bombings at the 56th session of the U.N. General Assembly and sign the International Convention for the Suppression of Financing of Terrorism during the U.N.-hosted meetings.
In addition, Zhu Baozao confirmed that a Chinese couple, both students, were murdered in their home in the United States in the early hours of November 3.
Preliminary government's investigation proved that the couple came from east China's Fujian Province. The Chinese consulate in Los Angeles has sent officials to the scene of the murder to collect information and help make funeral arrangements for the murdered couple.
