Zhongguancun will see its high-tech products sales value hit 200 billion-yuan within ten years. The high-tech park will be built into "Beijing's demonstration window for the city's commercial development" by drawing experiences from American Silicon Valley, Taiwan Hsinchu and Japan Tsukuba high tech parks, said Lu Yan, vice chairman of Commercial Commission of Beijing Municipality.

Lu made the speech at the "International Communication Modernization 2001-Beijing Forum", which was held in Beijing Hotel November 6.

He said that it takes 10 years for the high-tech park to put up a world first-rate commercial service system.

Beijing issued related documents for the commercial development plan of the Haidian park last month. Zhongguancun would set aside an area totaling 359 square km for the new zone and development zone for the Haidian park construction, highlighting the commercial mode and service function in the layout of the park.

Haidian Park has been outlined as to consist of three parts: the mid-west part, the east part and the central part. Beijing has formally announced a batch of key projects including Beiqing Mall, commercial zone in the west part, Shuangyushu-Dazhongsi commercial zone, electronic commercial network and others.

Lu Yan also stressed that Zhongguancun will encourage the development of chain business. In the meantime, it also welcomes foreign fund to participate in the commercial construction of the Haidian Park and will allow international well-known enterprises to run joint ventures in the park for better development.
