BUCHAREST, April 12 (Xinhua) -- Romania and China should enhance cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), especially through academic exchanges in such areas as economy, sociology and public policies, Romanian academics said here Thursday. "We fully agree that Romania and China can cooperate at global level, taking into consideration the specificity of our economies," Professor Gheorghe Zaman, director of the National Institute of Economy of the Romanian Academy, said at a roundtable on the BRI and the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC).
UNITED NATIONS, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese envoy said Thursday that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has charted a new course for international cooperation. "The Belt and Road Initiative has charted a new course for international cooperation, tapped new drivers for world economic growth, built new platforms for relations among countries, and created substantial amount of job opportunities for countries along the route," Ma Zhaoxu, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, told the UN General Assembly's high-level meeting to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
ADDIS ABABA, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Vera Songwe, executive secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), hailed the role that the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) would play in addressing Africa's problems in infrastructure and job creation. Songwe told Xinhua on Wednesday in an interview that the BRI will positively affect hundreds of millions of people in different countries, while it helps Africa develop infrastructure connectivity of varied types and create job opportunities that are pressing issues on the continent.
