Chinese president leaves for state visits to Italy, Monaco, France

Chinese President Xi Jinping [File photo: Xinhua] BEIJING, March 21 (Xinhua) -- President Xi Jinping left Beijing Thursday for state visits to Italy, Monaco and France. Xi was invited to pay the visits by Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Head of State of the Principality of Monaco Albert II and French President Emmanuel Macron.

Italian students encouraged by Xi's letter

ROME, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Receiving Chinese President Xi Jinping's reply to their letter, students at an Italian boarding school were surprised, excited and encouraged. "I'm so happy to know that President Xi has received our letter," Giovanni Stoppoloni, a fifth-grader at Rome Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II, told Xinhua cheerfully.
