Chinese, Albanian Defense Ministers Hold Talks

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian and his Albanian counterpart Luan Hajdaraga held talks in Beijing on November 22. Chi, also vice-chairman of China's Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said that bilateral relations between the two countries have been growing steadily in recent years.

Chi briefed the guests on China's domestic situation and foreign policy and expressed his thanks for Albania's "one China" position and support of China's reunification.

Hajdaraga discussed Albania's political and economic situation, as well as the regional issues. He noted that his current visit will help increase cooperation between the two countries and their armed forces, and that he looks forward to more two-way visits and personnel exchanges in military areas.

Hajdaraga reiterated that Albania will stick to its "one China" policy and holds that the Taiwan issue is China's internal affair, and should be resolved by Chinese people.

Prior to the talks, Chi presided over a welcoming ceremony for Hajdaraga and his party.
