In a recent interview, Joseph Yam Chi-kwong, former chief executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, said that more and more people have used the yuan in terms of current accounts, namely for trade. He believes that the Chinese yuan has a potential to be a trade unit in the capital market and is a direction for Hong Kong’s development.
