Two civilians were killed in separate attacks in restive Indian-controlled Kashmir, police said Saturday.
A civilian was killed and another wounded in a grenade attack late Friday in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-controlled Kashmir. In a separate attack, a civilian was shot dead in the southern Pulwama district.
"Late last evening, a grenade was hurled at the security personnel bunker at Zaina Kadal here. The grenade exploded on the road wounding two pedestrians. Though they were immediately shifted to hospital, one of them succumbed there," a police official posted in Srinagar said.
"In another incident, a young man was killed by militants in Tral area of Pulwama district."
Militants usually target people for their possible links with police or government security agencies.
So far, no militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
On Wednesday, a special police officer (SPO) and a civilian were killed, while another SPO wounded in a militant attack in the region.
Militant groups are engaged in a guerilla war with Indian troops in the region since 1989. The militants often carry out attacks on police and army in the region.
Gunfights between the two sides takes place intermittently.
