UNIFIL's Chinese medical unit offers support, medicines to clinic in southern Lebanon

BEIRUT, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese battalion of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) offered medical support and medicines to the clinic of Ibl al-Saqi, a town in southern Lebanon, said a statement by the Chinese troops on Thursday.

The municipality expressed thanks to the Chinese medical team for their donation, saying that it hopes China will succeed in winning the battle against the novel coronavirus very soon.

Since their deployment last May in Lebanon, the Chinese troops have been providing free humanitarian medical assistance to the local people.

The UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti announced that the UNIFIL has taken all necessary preventive measures, in coordination with its medical unit, to prevent any infection with coronavirus among its troops whose number has reached 11,000 in military and civilian personnel.

He explained that in light of the global emergency declared by the World Health Organization (WHO), following the spread of the coronavirus, UNIFIL health guidelines have been sent to all individuals, to ensure all adherence to WHO guidelines.
