China's anti-counterfeiting methods including algorithmic and technical systems and the Internet court, are becoming smarter and more effective. Meanwhile, Chinese authorities are joining hands with enterprises and even international counterparts for the cracking down on counterfeit goods.

Among all the anti-counterfeiting methods, an algorithmic and technical system made up of the online and offline anti-counterfeiting feature database and anti-counterfeiting experience accumulated by Alibaba Group, a Chinese e-commerce company, in the past 20 years was introduced and awarded with an honorary title in August of this year.

"AI-based anti-counterfeiting methods make full use of machine learning, big data analysis and other technologies, which is of great significance to the identification of true and false," said Xu Zongben, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Hangzhou Internet Court, the first online court in China that hears internet-related civil cases, was also introduced this year, marking a major institutional innovation for the judiciary system in adapting to the development of the Internet.

In addition to developing new anti-counterfeiting methods, Chinese regulatory authorities are also ramping up efforts in cracking down on counterfeit goods together with enterprises and the international counterparts.

For instance, Chinese police, in conjunction with FOREO, a Sweden brand, and Alibaba anti-counterfeiting team, successfully destroyed a network producing fake FOREO face cleaners, by which thousands of fake products and product molds were seized, and several suspects were arrested.

Chinese police and their counterparts in the United Arab Emirates have also uncovered a major case of transnational counterfeiting recently, with 57 suspects being arrested and 28,000 pieces of fake luxury goods including Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Chanel, being seized. The fake products had a total value of nearly 1.8 billion yuan (about $255.8 million).
