BEIJING, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese researchers have developed a type of liquid droplet as a carrier for flexible electronic devices, according to a new study paper published in the Advanced Science.
Researchers from Tianjin University constructed the new active droplets with volumes ranging from 150 to 600 microliters, which can move, transform and conduct sensing measurement in both dry and wet environments and adapt to the surrounding environment through reversible shape shifting.
The combination of flexible electronics with soft robots may improve the mobility of flexible electronics, allowing flexible devices to perform tasks in different locations and environments.
The active droplets carrying multifunctional sensors are expected to be applied in environmental monitoring, molecule analysis, drug assessment and chemical synthesis, the paper said.
