Taiwan authority's intension of political manipulation will not have its way: mainland spokesperson

(Xinhua)    09:03, November 08, 2019

BEIJING, Nov. 7 -- The intension of political manipulation by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) administration in Taiwan will not have its way, said a mainland spokesperson on Thursday.

Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson with the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks when answering a question about the DPP's denigration of the mainland's new policies for promoting cross-Strait economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation.

Known as the "26 measures," the new policies were unveiled by the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office and the National Development and Reform Commission on Monday.

The denigration further reveals that the DPP only has its self-interest in mind, not giving the least bit of care to the interests of the people in Taiwan, said Ma. "The people can distinguish right from wrong."

Building on the "31 measures" that the mainland rolled out in February 2018 to promote cross-Strait economic and cultural ties, the latest measures further reflect the mainland's vision of making development people-centered in its Taiwan work, Ma said.

The mainland has continuously provided the same treatment for compatriots and enterprises from Taiwan, let them share the mainland's development opportunities, and improved the interests and wellbeing of Taiwan compatriots, which have been widely welcomed by Taiwan compatriots and enterprises, he added.
