HONG KONG, Oct. 24 -- A man arrested for petrol bomb attack on a police car appeared in court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on Thursday and was denied bail, according to a local court.

The 22-year-old suspect was arrested for hurling petrol bombs at a police car in Mong Kok on Oct. 20 and was charged with arson. The suspect was accused of intending to damage the property and disregarding whether the life of the police would be thereby endangered or not.

The defendant appeared in court at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on Thursday and was denied bail due to the seriousness of the case and his high possibility of committing offenses on bail, according to the court.

The case was adjourned to Dec. 19.
