The volume of China’s express parcels has exceeded the total of that in the US, Japan and Europe, contributing over 50 percent to the global growth in the industry, said Ma Junsheng, head of the country’s State Post Bureau on Oct. 9 to mark the 50th World Post Day.
China has become the world’s fastest-growing and most energetic merging postal market, Ma said.
Statistics showed that the business revenue of postal services in China rose to 790 billion yuan ($111 billion) in 2018, up 19.4 percent from a year ago.
Around 50.7 billion express parcels were delivered during the last year, making China the largest express delivery market worldwide for five straight years. Such a huge volume was powered by nearly 7 trillion yuan of online retail, therein creating over 200,000 jobs.
