BEIJING, Sept. 30 -- Leaders of foreign countries and international organizations have sent a multitude of congratulatory messages to General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese President Xi Jinping to convey their best wishes on the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The following is an edited summary of some of these messages.

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), said that under the leadership of the CPC, the hardworking and intelligent Chinese people have fought tenaciously and overcome various tests and challenges over the past 70 years, bringing epoch-making changes to China and greatly lifting its overall national strength and international status.

The history of the PRC's great struggle has clearly proved that socialism is the most correct and inevitable choice of the Chinese people, and the leadership of the CPC is the fundamental guarantee for the Chinese people's march toward victory, he added.

The DPRK side, he said, firmly believes that with the leadership of Xi and the CPC, and with the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the Chinese people will surely achieve the two centenary goals and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Vietnamese President Nguyen Phu Trong said that since the founding of the PRC 70 years ago, particularly over the past four decades of reform and opening-up, the Chinese people, led by the CPC, have made tremendous achievements, secured a moderately prosperous life, and continuously lifted China's international influence and status.

He extended his wish that China will build itself into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful at an early date.

General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Lao President Bounnhang Vorachit said that over the past 70 years, the leadership of the CPC has been constantly consolidated, and the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics has achieved comprehensive and remarkable results, which has strengthened Laos' determination and confidence in promoting its own socialist construction.

He said he sincerely wishes that the Chinese people, under the wise leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi at the core, will successfully achieve the two centenary goals and realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.

Raul Castro Ruz, first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, said that under the leadership of the CPC, China has made great achievements in socialist construction, and that the Cuban side highly appreciates China's positive contributions to safeguarding international norms, promoting fairness and development, and maintaining world peace.

Miguel Diaz-Canel, president of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba, said Cuba stands ready to work with China to continue to consolidate their friendship and cooperation and promote comprehensive development of bilateral relations.
