The first passenger plane is expected to take off around Sept. 20 from the newly-built Beijing Daxing International Airport, Beijing Daily reported on Sept. 5.

A staff member at Daxing airport told Beijing Daily that six flights are scheduled to depart from the new airport, which is currently preparing for its official opening. However, the final date is subject to the Civil Aviation Administration of China.

On Sept. 4, China Southern Airlines, together with other airlines such as China Eastern Airlines, released its new flight schedule.

China Eastern Airlines will reportedly deploy 200 large- and medium-sized planes at the airport and will transfer all its routes from Beijing by late March 2020, excluding flights to Shanghai.

China Southern Airlines plans to begin its first batch of 13 routes with 176 flights per week to the Daxing airport from Oct. 27.

China United Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Eastern, is expected to become the first airline to transfer its operations, including more than 50 airplanes and 4,000 employees, to Daxing airport from Beijing Nanyuan Airport.

To date, a total of 16 carriers, including eight foreign airlines, will settle in the new airport during the 2019 winter/spring season and serve 116 routes and 112 domestic and international destinations.
