Moldovan parliament president calls for end of U.S.-China trade frictions

(Xinhua)    10:41, August 31, 2019

CHISINAU, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- President of the Moldovan Parliament Zinaida Greceanii on Thursday called for an end to the U.S.-initiated trade frictions with China as soon as possible to prevent further damage to the global economy.

She said in an interview with Xinhua that the United States and China, the two largest economies in the world, have a far-reaching economic impact on all countries, and trade disputes between the two economies are bound to have a negative impact on the global economy.

She called on the two countries to return to the negotiating table as soon as possible, arguing that any international contradiction should be resolved through dialogue.

"I believe that the two countries have enough rationality and wisdom to seek solutions to the problems and finally reach an agreement that will benefit the two countries and the two peoples, as well as all countries in the world," she said.

She said successful negotiations must be equal; the two sides must respect each other, and must strive to find a common language in the negotiations that will bring the two sides together.

Greceanii said the economies of all countries in the world are closely linked nowadays and countries must establish non-exclusive partnerships and strengthen cooperation and development.

Only in this way can the world economy prosper, she added.
