U.S. told to stop unwarranted accusation, smearing of China

(Xinhua)    09:36, June 04, 2019

BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- China on Monday refuted a report of the U.S. Defense Department alleging that China undermines the international system as a revisionist power.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang issued the rebuttal in responding to a query on the first Indo-Pacific Strategy Report, released by the U.S. Department of Defense recently.

The report has made an unwarranted accusation against China, which is totally unacceptable, Geng said, adding that as the first country to sign the UN Charter, China had always been the defender of the international order and will continue to maintain the international system and order with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter as the core.

Noting that unilateralism, protectionism and bullying prevailed in U.S. actions, Geng listed the major international agreements and institutions that the United States had walked away from, including the Paris Climate Accord, the Iran nuclear agreement, and the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.

"As an important member of WTO, the U.S. has blatantly violated the multilateral trade rules and regularly wielded tariffs as a big stick," Geng said.

He urged some personages from the United States to focus on the peace, stability and development of the region and the world, instead of the unwarranted accusation and smearing of China.
