Fitness enthusiasts and environmental volunteers from the Department of Management Engineering at Nanjing Agricultural University, in the capital of east China’s Jiangsu Province, went plogging in an ecological park near Yangtze River to encourage people to contribute to environmental protection, Chinanews.com reported on April 3.
Ploggers picked up garbage including cigarette butts, plastic water bottles, wastepaper, and snack wrappers while running slowly in the park, catching the attention of passersby.

The word plogging is a combination of the Swedish phrase “plocka upp” (picking up litter) and the English word “jogging”. It started in Sweden around 2016 and has quickly spread around the world due to its idea of combining physical activities with public good.
