Earlier in the day, the State Department said in a statement that during his stay in the DPRK, Biegun had "met with Special Representative for U.S. Affairs of the State Affairs Commission of the D.P.R.K. Kim Hyok Chol February 6-8, in Pyongyang."

The two officials "discussed advancing President Trump and Chairman Kim's Singapore summit commitments of complete denuclearization, transforming U.S.-D.P.R.K. relations, and building a lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula," the statement read.

It added that they "agreed to meet again in advance of President Trump and Chairman Kim's second summit."

In his State of the Union address delivered on Feb. 5, Trump said that he will meet with Kim Jong Un on Feb. 27-28 in Vietnam, but did not disclose the specific location.
