The 31st Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) announced on Sept. 25 that two Chinese films had been shortlisted for the 31st TIFF Competition Section.
This year, TIFF received a total of 1,829 entries from 109 countries and regions.
The two Chinese films, The Poet, directed by Liu Hao and starring Song Jia and Zhu Yawen, and Three Husbands, directed by Fruit Chan Gor, are among the 16 films on the competition shortlist.
Another World, produced by Japan, The White Crow, produced by the UK, and Tel Aviv on Fire, co-produced by Israel, Belgium, and Luxembourg are also in the lineup.
Additionally, three Chinese films including Wushu Orphan, A First Farewell, and Long Time No Sea have been selected to appear in the Asian Future section.
The 31st TIFF will take place from Oct. 25 to Nov. 3.
