South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating rebounded this week thanks to a summit with top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un, a weekly survey showed Thursday.

According to the Realmeter poll, support for Moon advanced 6.3 percentage points from the previous week to 59.4 percent this week.

The result was based on a poll of 1,505 voters conducted from Monday to Wednesday. It had 2.5 percentage points in margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level.

Moon made a three-day visit to Pyongyang from Tuesday to hold the third summit with the DPRK leader. The two leaders agreed Wednesday to further steps for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and concrete measures to end hostile acts such as the stopping of military exercises near border areas.

Support for Moon's ruling Democratic Party gained 4.6 percentage points over the week to 45.1 percent, while the main conservative opposition Liberty Korea Party won 17.4 percent this week that was down 3.5 percentage points from a week earlier.

The minor progressive Justice Party garnered 8.2 percent of support. The minor conservative Bareun Future Party and the center-left Party for Democracy and Peace gained 6 percent and 2.7 percent, respectively.
