Trade Single Window in Shanghai streamlines procedures for foreign trade
Connecting 22 government departments, China (Shanghai) International Trade Single Window provides services covering a third of the total volume of China’s import and export trade.
Originally launched in 2014, it has now been updated from 1.0 to 3.0. Currently, it has served more than 270 thousand enterprises and cargo declarations in excess of 34.2 million, enabling them to simplify administrative procedures for foreign trade.
Through this platform, it only takes half an hour to finish cargo declaration, compared to 24 hours before. By reducing the time needed from two days to two hours, they are able to save two billion yuan in expenses.
It is now an essential platform for Shanghai to serve the Yangtze River Delta Region, and even the Yangtze River Economic Belt. And it is just one vivid example of China’s ongoing process of bureaucratic simplification.
