London Royal Docks organisations join forces to create a global destination for innovation and technology

Chinese developer ABP, which is creating a new business district at Royal Albert Dock for companies from the UK and China the developer of Royal Albert Dock, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ExCeL International Exhibition Centre to jointly attract international enterprises to the Royal Docks to drive economic growth for east London on 13th June.

ABP and ExCeL recognise that innovation and technology will perform an increasingly significant role in the future of the east London economy. Both parties agreed to provide ongoing and sustainable platforms for productive exchange among tech businesses and identify new business opportunities and attract tech businesses to the Royal Docks from international markets.

The collaborative activities will include:

Participating in a range of business forums, conferences, discussions with a view to building greater understanding of the Royal Docks among tech businesses and further raise awareness of the Royal Docks.

Hosting a tech conference twice yearly in the Royal Docks.

Facilitating familiarisation visits from key media in the technology sector.

Cross promoting visits from international tech delegations to visit both ABP Royal Albert Dock and the Excel International Exhibition Centre.

“By co-operating we can attract greater investment from technology companies into the Royal Docks and increase their interest in using the Royal Docks to showcase products and services. Ultimately a prosperous Royal Dock will support the growth of east London and bring more opportunities to our community,” said John Miu, Chief Operating Officer of ABP London who signed the MOU along with James Rees, Executive Director for Conferences & Events of ExCeL London during the ABP International Tech Exhibition at Royal Albert Dock.

Jeremy Rees, Acting CEO, ExCeL London, added: “At ExCeL London, every year we bring together 4 million people from all over the world to meet, trade and do business, across 300 world leading events. This includes over 30 technology-focused events, welcoming over 400,000 professionals in the sector. Our Memorandum of Understanding with ABP London, will enable us to attract greater investment and continue to position London’s Royal Docks as a centre of technology and innovation.
