The trip on Tuesday included stops in the cities of Qingdao and Weihai.

At a national oceanic science lab in Qingdao, Xi Jinping called for more to be done in promoting the development of the oceanic economy and oceanic science and technology.

He also inspected a local residential community and encouraged better quality food for residents.

During his time in Weihai, the president visited a museum commemorating the War of Jiawu which China lost to Japan in the late 19th century.

Xi Jinping called on the whole nation to remember history and make the country stronger.
