Chinese cross-border e-commerce transactions are expected to reach 9 trillion yuan ($1.4 trillion) in 2018, which would be 40 percent of the global total, chinanews.com reported on Thursday, citing a blue paper released at a forum held in Zhengzhou.

The second Global Cross-border E-commerce Conference opened in Zhengzhou in central China, May 10, 2018.

With Chinese characteristics, the cross-border e-commerce transactions have become the most active in the world, according to the paper released during the second Global Cross-border E-commerce Conference, held in Zhengzhou in central China.

The Chinese government has taken a scientific concept to develop the sector by encouraging innovation, carrying out coordinated supervision and adopting inclusive and prudent policies toward the industry, the paper pointed out.

The paper was initiated by EWTO Research Institute and China Certification & Inspection Group.

EWTO Research Institute was inaugurated in Zhengzhou in September 2017. The institute has established an index to evaluate a country or a region’s e-commerce status in terms of the level of development, innovation capability, quality and safety systems, policy and business environment alongside supporting systems.
