Technicians from China have held discussions with construction workers on the construction sites on the Jakarta – Bandung railway.
Lu Dongfu, General Manager of China Railway Group Limited, inspected the sites between May 1 to May 5 and said that the company would try its best to construct a modern and standardized railway for the Indonesian people.
The Jakarta – Bandung railway is a project under the China-proposed "Belt and Road Initiative."
Once completed, the railway is 142 km long, linking Indonesia's capital city Jakarta and its fourth largest city Bandung. The highest speed can reach 350 km per hour, and the railway can shorten the travel time between the two cities from the current over 3 hours to 40 minutes.
Construction on the project began on January 21, 2016.
