By Morag Hobbs (People's Daily Online)    10:48, May 04, 2018

Xiaomi, a Chinese mobile phone company well known in Asia, will now be available in the UK through Three UK, according to the carrier:

At long last @xiaomi's coming to the UK. And it's only on Three. Welcome, #xiaomi. Kettle's on. https://t.co/oCoih5FREc

— Three UK (@ThreeUK) May 3, 2018

Xiaomi Mi 6 smartphones launched in April 2017

The phone company is now 4th largest in the world, thanks to its success in Asian markets, especially India. Last November, the brand debuted in Spain and through the new partnership with Hutchinson’s brand Three will see it sold in the UK and Ireland, with possibilities in Austria, Denmark and Sweden.

Not only known for phones, Xiaomi also produce a range of tech products that could see themselves in the European market such as electric bikes, rice cookers, air purifiers and even robotic vacuums. Xiaomi is set to be the next in line of Chinese tech products that have become huge in both UK and European markets.

Xiaomi is the next Chinese tech company poised to enter the European market, but it’s definitely not the first.

Lenovo is a Beijing based firm that has claimed European fame over recent years. According to an article published by the Guardian, it’s now the world’s largest maker of PCs when it comes to number of units sold.

Not to mention Huawei, who in February 2018 signed an agreement with BT Group to extend their strategic partnership, with a clear focus on ensuring 5G for BT Group and its mobile network, EE, to be at the forefront of 5G carriers in Europe, according to Huawei’s website.

According to the Guardian, a statement from Three UK said on the new partnership "We have been watching Xiaomi's success from afar and impressed with the huge range of connected devices that they currently offer… Watch this space."
