Changsha receives record tourists during Spring Festival holiday

Hunan received 27.2 million tourists during the week-long Lunar New Year holiday, and garnered record 17.652 billion yuan in revenue, up over 20 percent from last year’s holiday, statistics from Tourism Development Commission of Hunan Province and Changsha Municipal Tourism Bureau showed on Feb 21.

Changsha, capital of Hunan, received 3.71 million tourists, the most of the province. It earned 3.481 billion yuan in revenue, accounting for nearly one fifth of the province’s total revenue.

As for scenic spots around the capital city, Yuelu Mountain and Orange Island received 211,500 tourists, up 24 percent on an annual basis. Ancient town agglomeration along the Xiang River received 656,000 tourists and gained 329 million yuan in revenue.

Statistics showed scenic spots around the capital city received a total of 2.53 million tourists, increasing by 11 percent over last year’s holiday. Tourists staying overnight spent an average of 1,025 yuan per day while tourists of one day tour spent 812 yuan, both increasing over last year’s holiday.
