Official seals exhibited at Handan Administrative Examination and Approval Authority

A special exhibition featuring over two thousand unused official seals was recently opened at an approval authority in north China’s Hebei province, reflecting the local government’s efforts to streamline administration, People’s Daily reported Wednesday.

Over half of the 5,770 official seals in Handan, Hebei, have been discontinued for easier administrative approvals. A total of 2,660 out of the 2,894 unused seals are exhibited in the hall of local administrative examination and approval authority.

The seals were placed in glass, making an impressive wall that encourages citizens to take a step closer and observe the details.

Reducing the number of official seals has been a key measure for the local government to streamline administration and delegate power to lower levels since 2017. Policies like setting approval bureaus at both the county and municipal levels and cutting unnecessary procedures have improved approval efficiency and brought real convenience to citizens.
