GUANGZHOU, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang met on Wednesday with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Papua New Guinean Prime Minister Peter O'Neill, who were in Guangzhou for the opening ceremony of the 2017 Fortune Global Forum.

When meeting with Trudeau, Wang said the consensus reached between Chinese leaders and Trudeau during his official visit to China will inject fresh momentum into bilateral relations, and China will work with Canada to expand trade and investment as well as innovation partnership.

Trudeau said his China visit was fruitful and he expected both sides to increase investment and innovation cooperation and push forward free trade agreement talks.

When meeting with O'Neill, Wang said China appreciates Papua New Guinea's long adherence to the one-China policy and will work with the country on the Belt and Road Initiative.

China will continue to offer assistance to Papua New Guinea and support it to host the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in 2018, Wang said.

O'Neill said his country will continue to uphold the one-China policy and be a staunch partner to China.
