Finnish Parliament speaker sends well-wishes to readers of People’s Daily Online

Finnish Parliament Speaker Maria Lohela wished readers of People’s Daily Online good luck, calling for better bilateral relations between the two nations and their people.

“I think the current Sino-Finnish relations are very good. It’s not only because the two nations’ top leaders have visited one another, but also because of the large amount of people-to-people contact, which I think is the most important,” said Lohela during an exclusive interview with People’s Daily Online on Friday.

According to Lohela, Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Finland last April consolidated and lifted bilateral ties, making a good example for the two nations’ closer cultural exchange and local cooperation in the future.

The speaker has also congratulated Chinese readers for their country’s remarkable achievements in recent years, noting that China will play an more important role in the international arena in the future.

“You have achieved so much, I’m sure you’ll do even better in the future!” wrote Lohela in a letter to the Chinese readers.

This is the second time that the Finnish Parliament speaker visited China. Her six-day visit aims to create a sound environment for bilateral cooperation in areas of economy and trade, as well as culture, tourism, small and medium enterprises investment from a new starting point, according to Xinhua.
