Postponement of nominations for “Voices of the ‘Comfort Women’” to be inscribed in the Memory of the World International Register was attributed to Japan’s obstruction, said South Korean media, cankaoxiaoxi.com reported on Oct. 31.
The archive of “comfort women,” including 2,744 documents on the victims’ testimony, investigation, and treatment of them, and relevant assistance, was evaluated by the International Advisory Committee of the Memory of the World Program as exclusive and irreplaceable historical materials, Yonhap News Agency reported on Oct. 31.
However, the media noted that, due to Japan’s obstruction, the nominations were recommended for postponement and pending dialogue to be inscribed in the Memory of the World International Register by UNESCO.
