China has built the world’s largest reporting system for infectious diseases and pandemic events, according to a white paper on China’s public health released by China’s State Council Information Office on Sept. 29, Xinhuanet.com reported.

China’s focus on healthcare has shifted from treating illnesses to enhancing people’s health. The system reduces notifiable infectious disease morbidity by 19.4 percent and effectively controls the spread of epidemics.

China’s response to public health emergency events has been comprehensively strengthened, the white paper pointed out. The emergency response capacity rate rose to 91.5 percent in 2014, well exceeding 70 percent of the global average level.
