Several homes were evacuated after a huge fire broke out in a store in Chingford, east London on Wednesday evening local time, as around 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines were dispatched to tackle the blaze.

No casualties have been reported so far.

The London Fire Brigade was called at 18:54 BST (1754 GMT) to the fire at a discount store called Poundland.

Half of the shop's ground floor, its first floor and the roof were engulfed in flames.

The cause of the fire has not been immediately clear but an arson investigation has been launched.

Some media reports said three people were seen acting suspiciously in the area before the blaze broke out.
