Military blockbuster hits Chinese theaters today

Boasting big budgets and a glamorous cast, domestic war film 'The Founding of An Army' is hitting Chinese theaters today.

The military blockbuster marks the 90th anniversary of the People's Liberation Army, stars more than 50 first-tier Chinese actors and actresses playing historical figures of the late 1920s.

The story begins in 1927 at the beginning of the Nanchang uprising, known as the first major Kuomintang-Communist engagement.

That's one of the reasons why the director and cast premiered the movie in Nanchang.

Produced by Han Sanping and directed by Andrew Lau, 'The Founding of An Army' is the third part of a trilogy called 'Founding of New China.'

Previous instrument include 'The Founding of a Republic' in 2009, 'The Founding of a Party' in 2011.

The film is ranked by Weibo.com as the most anticipated war movie this year, and is expected to attracting tremendous attention from the Chinese public.

Bona Film Group, one of the producers of the film, is confident to see box office revenue surpassing 1 billion yuan.
