A heroic teacher carrying his students to safety over a dangerous river has drawn high praise on social media. Torrential rain and rising water levels had cut off a route taken by the students of Muduo Primary School in Kunming, southwest China’s Yunnan province, and left them stranded on June 29.
Noticing the scene on the other side of the river, Duan Rui, the primary school principal, quickly came to rescue. Duan, 28, carried 67 students across the 15-meter-wide river so they could attend school. It took Duan over 40 minutes to carry all his students from one side to the other.
The teacher drew high praise on social media after one student snapped the moment on his smartphone and posted the rescue online.
