China and Russia are discussing a roadmap that Moscow has drafted to curb the DPRK’s nuclear drive and maintain overall peace in the Northeast Asia region.

Speaking at a regular press conference on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said Beijing's proposals for "double suspension" and "parallel-track approach" – whereby the DPRK would halt its nuclear and ballistic program, in exchange for the US and South Korea putting an end to joint military drills – have been gaining more and more support from other countries.

These proposals also resembled the essence of Russia's roadmap, he said.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov told Sputnik agency on Tuesday that Moscow’s roadmap would bring the parties towards a dialogue without preconditions on Korean Peninsula issues.

China is willing to maintain close communication and coordination with Russia and further discuss the roadmap, Lu said Wednesday.

He said China has fully implemented sanctions proposed by the UN Security Council against the DPRK, but also called for promoting a peaceful diplomatic resolution to prevent further intensifying tensions.
