China's Foreign Ministry on June 5 dismissed reports claiming that Chinese military helicopters had violated India’s airspace, saying that the Chinese military was just carrying out regular border patrols.

Reports from India claimed that two Chinese helicopters had been seen hovering over the "Barahoti sector" of the China-India boundary, violating India’s airspace.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying told reporters at a routine press briefing that Chinese border troops conducted regular patrols in relevant areas, and urged India to work with China through relevant border-related mechanisms to maintain peace and tranquility along the border area.

China's defense ministry offered a similar response the same day, denying the accuracy of the reports.

During his visit to Russia last weekend, Indian Prime Minister Modi reiterated that, despite border issues between India and China, not a single bullet has been fired in the past 40 years.

Hua said on Monday that she noted and welcomed the PM’s positive remarks.

“China and India are exploring a solution through the mechanism of special representatives meeting to discuss the boundary question, while also taking measures to uphold peace and tranquility in the border area,” Hua added.
