Police in China’s Hunan province announced that a total of 63 foreigners who illegally entered China to work were detained and will be deported on June 6.
Their names on the luggage don't look like Chinese names.
According to local authorities, the 63 people were brought across the border by a job agency and told to claim the identity of Chinese ethnic minorities when looking for jobs in Xiangtan, a city in central China’s Hunan province. However, they were rejected over and over again after failing to produce valid proof of Chinese citizenship.
The agency that brought them over was at first responsible for providing accommodations to the foreign job-seekers. Once it was no longer unable to afford this expense, the agency chose to contact the police.
After an investigation, police found that most of the foreigners possessed neither a visa nor even a passport. They sneaked into China after being hearing that they could find decent-paying jobs in Xiangtan.
