Police in Urumchi, capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region have launched a mobile application to collect useful information from the public, in an effort to better safeguard public security.

The app, Baixing Anquan, literally means safety of the civilians, can enable users to report suspicious activities that may harm social security and stability via uploading text, photo and video evidence. Police will take effective measures after investigating details of the information. Civilians providing useful information will be awarded.

Police call for more public participation in tackling crime, expressing hope that the app can serve as a platform for cooperation between police and the public.
