Xinjiang's medical industry has become a promising part of the Belt and Road Initiative, a grand trade and infrastructure plan proposed by China in 2013. In 2016, major hospitals in Urumqi treated 8,645 foreign patients, a year-on-year increase of 16 percent. Now five hospitals in Xinjiang opened their international departments, and they plan to add at least 500 beds for foreign patients in the following years. (Xinhua/Cai Yang)
