Over 150 WWII artillery shells discovered in central China

By Li Yan (People's Daily Online)    13:23, April 17, 2017

A total of 161 artillery shells believed to be stored by Japanese forces during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression were recently found by a villager repairing his family's house on April 13.

The man, Chen Dunhuang, a villager in central China’s Hubei province, at first believed they were copper blocks belonging to his family. He therefore carried the artillery shells home, keeping the finding a secret from police. It was not until several hours later that Chen was persuaded to hand over the artillery shells, allowing police to dispose of the deadly ammunition.
